Boone Hall Plantation

Spent a wonderful overcast afternoon with a good friend, Natasha, at Boone Hall with our cameras. But before photos... a bit of shameless friend advertising! Natasha has some amazing knot creations in her Etsy shop! I absolutely love her original earrings. Go check it out! Driving into Boone Hall was interesting. The road in, like most parks here in the Charleston area, was made of sand and it of course had rained recently. We took a few alternate routes past some of the muddier sections and thankfully didn't get stuck. Once parked, we wandered over to the closest building there, an old cotton gin house that was all boarded up. There we found two cats and spent the next 10 minutes making friends and coaxing the rather talkative but shy one out into the open.

The plantation home was set back a bit behind a beautiful gate at the end of a long avenue of oaks. The home itself unfortunately isn't the wood original and was built sometime in the 20th century. The original slave cabins were there however.

To each side of the plantation house were gardens. The magnolia trees and a few others were in bloom. We spent so much time photographing the magnolia blossoms. The colors were perfect; pinks and grays against a blue sky. Here I found two of my favorite prints ("Magnolia" & "Breathe").

The slave quarters had interesting brick work as well as amazing moss.

We ended our photo walk by wandering onto a very weathered boardwalk covered in moss.
